Careful!! Be Safe!

This afternoon, we used our Chrome Books to produce a poster identifying safe practices for handling hot and cold materials!  Students typed in their rule, inserted a picture and played with background colour on their slide. So impressed!

In Math, students have been creating and solving problems using repeating and growing patterns.

Home Connection:  Ask your child, "How many socks would we need for everyone in our family?" Then collect a pair of socks for everyone and count the socks.

Word Wall Words - I have posted this week and last week's WWW.  These are the Grade 2 High Frequency words which your child is expected to read and spell correctly in their writing.  Students will practice these words daily in our Rise and Shine Binder, however, will not be tested on them.

Chocolate Milk Slurpees

In Science today, students were asked whether a liquid would change or stay the same when cooled.  We poured chocolate milk and sweetened condensed milk into a freezer bag and super cooled it in ice.  It took longer than expected, but our liquid began to change into a solid! We put the remainder of the Chocolate Milk Slurpees into the "super cooler" (aka the freezer) overnight to see if it became MORE of a solid.  Not only did we begin to see a change in the state of chocolate milk, it also tasted delicious!

Discuss:  Do you think a solid would change when heated?

Shake it!!!

Terrific Tasty Tuesday

Well, it sure was a sticky, sweet kind of afternoon.  Today was our first Tasty Tuesday - the kids enjoyed making, tasting and writing a review on the Caramel Apple Dips.  Thank you to Mrs. Hill for coming in on short notice to help out with the prep work and clean up.  I will be sending home the Tasty Tuesday volunteer schedule later this week.
