  • Students will examine how their community has changed, by exploring and reflecting upon specific inquiry questions:
    • In what ways has our community changed over time?
    • What has caused changes in our community?
Tonight's Homework:  Students were asked to research one interesting fact about Devon's past.  Based on their research,  we will be creating a timeline.

Saskatoon (Ukrainian) Day!

Today was Saskatoon - Ukrainian Day!  Congratulations to all of our presenters on a job well done! Grade 2 students circulated through the various displays, learning about the Ukrainian Culture - traditional costumes, music and, food were enjoyed by all!

Meteghan (Acadian) Day!

Today was Meteghan - Acadian Day!  Congratulations to all of our presenters on a job well done!  Grade 2 students circulated through the various displays, learning about the Acaian Culture - there were even real lobster tails to check out!




Tomorrow is Saskatoon - Ukrainian Day!  We are looking forward to another fantastic learning experience.

Iqaluit (Inuit) Day!

Today was Iqaluit - Inuit Day!  Congratulations to all of our presenteners on a job well done!  Grade 2 students circulated through the various displays, learning about the Inuit Culture - there was printing making, soapstone sculptures, food samples, games to play, words to learn in Inuktitut, and information on Inuit dance and music!






Tomorrow is Meteghan - Acadian Day!  We are looking forward to another fantatic learning experience.

Social Studies - Chapter 1:  Long Ago
  • Today we started a presentation project on our Chromebooks.  Researching the past.  
  • Cultural Festival 
  • We are all looking forward to the Grade 2 Cultural Festival Days next week! Hopefully your child has a good start, or may already be finished their project.  Here are a couple ofsuggestions to help with  your child's project:
  • purchase a trifold, bristrol board, or construction paper
  • allow time for your child to research on the computer
  • print pictures and/or information
  • draw and label pictures
  • collect items related to the topic

A few reminders:
  • Book Orders Due on April 27th  - Thank you, Mrs. deVos for getting those out today.
  • Fundscrip Fundraiser form went home today.  For each form the student returns, their name will be entered into a draw for a gift card.  Forms are due back no later than April 23rd.
  • This week, we had 2 firedrills! 2S students efficiently exited the building quickly and safely.

Pysanky

This weekend, Ukrainians will celebrate Easter with delicious food, including a special Easter bread called paska and make decorated eggs called pysanky.  Using traditional Ukrainian Easter egg designs, we decorated our own pysanky.
