Polar Bear, Polar Bear, Where Are You?

Today is National Polar Bear Awareness Day and we had the opportunity to watch a live webcast on Polar Bears! This global event draws attention to the challenges polar bears face in a warming Arctic—and how we each can help. Students are excited to show their support for greenhouse gas reductions by bundling up for polar bears and taking the Thermostat Challenge!

    Looking At Next Week....

We are skating next week!  Parent volunteers, to tie skates or be on the ice are welcomed and appreciated.  Our schedule is as follows:
    • Monday 9:25 - 10:05
    • Tuesday - 8:40 - 9:25
    • Wednesday - 10:35 - 11:15
    • Thursday - No Skating
    • Friday - 11:15 - 11:55
Students learned a fun game during Calendar Math this week - Making Ten. This game can easily be played at home. Each player needs a set of cards numbered 0 - 9 (you can use a deck of cards). A number from 1 - 10 is called (by an adult/sibling).  Players must raise the card that would be needed to Make Ten. For example:  The number 2 is called.  Students choose the 8 card and raise it in the air.  The faster the better!

In Language Arts today, students began writing Bold Beginnings for their Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (CWACOM) Story.  We used prepositions and landforms from the Canadian communities we are studying to describe where our town, which was named, is located.  Here is an example:

Across the sandy beaches, over the frozen ice and around the mountains there lay the tiny town of SlurpandBurp.

    Happy 100th Day of School!

    We are 100 Days Smarter...
