Have a super weekend!

In Math, we completed our Math Worshops for this week.  Our focus was Counting with Coins.

HOME CONNECTION:

Place 6 pennies in a row.  Ask your child:  "How many pennies are there?"  Add a dime to the row and ask:  "How much money is there altogether?"  Continue using dimes to count until you reach 96 cents.

We also began our first unit in Social Studies:  Looking At Places.  We will be studying about what the land is like, and how each community began.  The three communities we are focusing on are:  Iqaluit, Nunavut; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Meteghan, Nova Scotia.

In Social Studies today, we continued to work on our mapping skills.  Students followed directions and created their own town of Devon:

Hot Lunch tomorrow!

Today we disguised a turkey, as a pigeon, so he won't be eaten on Thanksgiving!  We wrote to try and convince families to eat hot dogs rather than turkey on Thanksgiving.  Writing from the turkey's point of view, we wrote about why hot dogs are a better choice for their holiday meal!
